NEW YORK (FNS) -- With the help of special items, Willcox & Gibbs, Inc. (W&G) reported a 16.1 percent profit increase in the first quarter ended March 31.
W&G, makers of covered yarn used primarily for hosiery, earned $1,444,000, or 11 cents a share, against $1,244,000, or 9 cents, last year. The year-earlier quarter includes an after-tax charge of $2,040,000 to cover restructuring costs for several of the company's divisions.
