ALESSANDRO VOLTA rounded off a good week for Irish trainer Aidan O'Brienby taking the totesport.com Derby Trial at Lingfield from stablemate King OfRome.
Smartly out of the stalls, he held sway over the five-runner field until theturn into the straight where he came alarmingly wide off the running rail.
It allowed the chasing pack to close, and when the Frankie Dettori-riddenfavourite Campanologist came at him approaching the final furlong, it looked asif the lights had gone out for the colt, who is named after the pioneering 19thcentury electricity physicist.
