The bed-and-breakfast's website described how we would "step back in time," "savor the ambience" in the library, and "feel like a Vanderbilt without breaking the bank!" We were sure that our Internet homework had paid off. We had Googled and otherwise surfed for days to find the perfect place for our romantic New England getaway weekend.
