The V Corps headquarters officially assumed command from the XVIII Airborne Corps for Multi-National Corps-Iraq on January 19. Lt. Gen. Peter W. Chiarelli accepted authority from Lt. Gen. John R. Vines in a ceremony at Camp Victory in Baghdad. This is the second deployment for V Corps headquarters, which first deployed in early 2003 at the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
