Upright vacuums cleaners continue to be the carpet cleaner of choice for most Americans.
Sales of upright vacuum cleaners have grown in response to several factors. National home sales have remained healthy, hand in hand with a robust economy. Many of the new homes also have wall-to-wall carpet, for which upright vacuums are the machine of choice.
Technology has greatly affected the category, giving the machines bells and whistles. Today's uprights can clean more areas of the home than just wall-to-wall carpeting. They also address home-health issues and cleaning efficiency.
