Space vector modulation (SVM) performs better than pulse width modulation (PMW) methods. PWM methods view the inverter as three driver stages; while the SVM method considers the inverter as a single unit that can be driven into eight states. The resulting control exercised by SVM over the voltage vector enables rapid response. This swift response causes proper alignment with digital control techniques.
