A week ago, the Gophers football team walked off the practice field after its first scrimmage of spring practice feeling relatively upbeat about its offense and frustrated with its defense.
It was the exact opposite after the second scrimmage Saturday. The defense looked light years better and far more enthusiastic while the offense showed no semblance of a running game, causing offensive coordinator Mitch Browning to call the situation "bleak."
