Thanks to a balance of $659,131 carried over from the 2003-2004 fiscal year, the Gophers athletic department showed a profit of $63,882 for the 2004-2005 fiscal year. The Gophers have an annual athletic budget of $52 million.
Counting ticket revenue only, the Gophers football program showed expenses of $5,342,283 and income of $6,804,055 for a profit of $1,461,772.
At least that is the way Gophers athletic director Joel Maturi measures the football profit.
