At the west edge of what's now a giant parking lot, University of Minnesota President Robert Bruininks addressed a mass of maroon and gold shirts, caps and hard hats Saturday afternoon.
He stood in a placid breeze, bathed in highly squintable sunlight that shone through just a few patches of clouds.
"I guarantee you, it does not rain in the fall in Minnesota," Bruininks said jokingly, nodding to the day's gorgeous weather.
