It appears as if the Gophers might have even more competition when it comes to filling their open men's basketball coaching position.
A week ago, Minnesota was the only Big Ten school looking for a basketball coach. Since then, Michigan has fired Tommy Amaker and Iowa reportedly has moved toward having an opening. Iowa's Steve Alford could be named the new coach at New Mexico as soon as Friday, according to ESPN.com.
What that means is that the Gophers could have more competition for potential coaching candidates.
