As it was for so many Minnesotans, Aug. 1 was a pivotal day for Laura Halldorson.
The head coach of the Gophers women's hockey team spent the morning at the funeral of Frank Kara, the athletic department's director of compliance who died of cancer. Later that day, the I-35W bridge collapsed.
