Major League Baseball has big- and small-market teams. College baseball has something similar.
"College baseball has a situation where 20 percent of the schools are controlling the sport," said John Anderson, who is in 25th season as Gophers coach. "The other 80 percent of the schools are on the other side of the fence. Four main conferences - Big 12, ACC, SEC and Pac-10 - dominate.
"It's a good analogy comparing it to the BCS in college football. The 20 percent with the clout have the weather, bigger stadiums and money."
