Late last month in Boston's Church of the Covenant, the Boston Camerata and conductor Joel Cohen finished recording what they are happy to tout as the first 20th-century production of "Tristan and Iseult" with vocal and dance music not heard for 600 years. Medieval it may be, but, says Cohen, it's a good deal more hip than the opera libretto that Wagner fashioned from the same old legend. While the period-instrument "Tristan" its won't bump Wagner's big-band opera from the boards, it will add an evening-length work to the medieval repertory.
