LONG POND, PA. -- The luck of the draw smiled on Ward Burton on Friday morning at Pocono Raceway.
And on Friday afternoon, the spirit he called ``the cloud god'' smiled on him as well. The result was the pole position for Sunday's Pennsylvania 500.
Burton toured this 2.5-mile speedway at 168.805 mph Friday to stymie Jeff Gordon's effort to win his sixth pole of the season. Instead, Burton won his second; he also had won the top starting spot at Michigan last month.
