Thornton, Bruins stop surging Devils Associated Press Sunday, November 4, 2001 Joe Thornton scored a power-play goal and set up another as the Boston Bruins defeated New Jersey 2-1 Saturday in East Rutherford, N.J., snapping the Devils' six-game winning streak. Martin Lapointe also scored, and Byron Dafoe had 19 saves as the Bruins won for the first time in four games (1-0-1-2). Islanders 2, Flyers 1: New York's Dave Scatchard scored the go- ahead goal late in the second period and Chris Osgood stopped 28 shots as the Islanders snapped the Flyers' three-game winning streak by beating them...
