AMESBURY Townspeople are starting to take advantage of the mercury thermometer exchange. Health Department employees say a growing number of residents have stopped by to exchange their mercury thermometers for digital thermometers. The Amesbury Health Department, with help from the state, wants people to turn in mercury thermometers because they pose a threat to the environment and to people, especially if toxins from the thermometers leak.
