A NEW GENERATION PICKS UP THE TOOLS OF THE TRADE
YEESOONG TANG came all the way from his native Singapore to learn the art of lutherie in the small brick building that houses the Chicago School of Violin Making. Michael Lochner needed only to travel a few hours south from his childhood home in Madison, Wisconsin, to attend the school (which despite its name is actually located on an industrial strip in the suburb of Skokie).
