Once considered the frontier, this Virginia city now seems bypassed. Its Victorian mansions have been carved into apartments; the restaurants on its main street-largely luncheonettes-are closed for most of the weekend. Winchester looks untouched by yuppieism. Except for the post office, that is. The old post office is now serving goat cheese ravioli and Norwegian salmon with shiitake mushrooms and champagne sauce.
