WILLIAM PROCHNAU'S WELL-WRITTEN piece on Neil Sheehan {"The Last Prisoner of Vietnam," October 9} painted a vivid picture of a dedicated author who put his heart and soul into reporting something (Vietnam) that his heart and soul had come to disdain. It also shows how even with the rooting-on by Random House plus the likes of David Halberstam and Harrison Salisbury, it took the strong support and understanding of his wife Susan and daughters Maria and Catherine to pull him through that 16-year haul.
