I was incensed by Thomas Blakey's self-serving attack on Friendship Heights' proposed outdoor smoking ban {"Crazy Smoking Ban," letters, Oct. 11}. Sadly, his shoddy arguments are widely used by the so-called smokers' rights community and warrant a rebuttal. Mr. Blakey states that "the antismoking fanatics have stolen everything indoors. Now, they want the rest of the world." He later refers to smoking bans as acts of "tyranny" and "incredible rudeness."
