Let it be known that at precisely 2:57 p.m. last Thursday, midway through the fifth month of the World Trade Center bombing trial on the third floor of Manhattan's federal court, the judge fell asleep. He had to be jostled awake by a chorus of lawyerly throat clearing and a final, embarrassing nudge from a clerk.
It's been that kind of trial.
