Can old cargo containers really be turned into cheap designer homes? Oliver Bennett speaks to one resident to find out how it all stacks up
Ian Felton, 38, is an artist. For the last two years, he has lived in east London, in a home that overlooks the river as it widens towards the estuary. "There's so much light," he says, "and there's a lovely view of the Thames from my window." But never mind the sweeping views; there's something about his home that makes it truly remarkable: Felton lives in a shipping container.
