There's never an Uzbek around when you need one.
Well, okay, there are 25 million in Uzbekistan. But in a silly cost-control move, the paper refused to fund a trip to Tashkent or Samarkand, so I was left desperately trying to find a native of the former Soviet Republic closer to home. It turns out we're a tad short of Uzbeks in these parts.
