While The Post was correct to condemn the recent GOP attack on House Speaker Tom Foley, it has overlooked the true victims of this hateful episode: gay men and women. From the editorial pages of newspapers, the floor of the House of Representatives and even from President Bush, we are reminded that alleged homosexuality should be viewed as "disgusting" or a "smear." Such broad acceptance of homosexuality as an epithet to be hurled plays into the conservative agenda, particularly that of members of the far right wing.
