Records of the fifty-day occupation of Nanjing by the Japanese army in December 1937 reveal the war atrocities committed on the civilian population and the surrendered army. The events that took place were recorded by the residents of the International Safety Zone where the Chinese refugees fled. War dead is estimated to be between 155,000 to 320,000, women raped between 20,000 to 30,000.
