IT should have been a cause for celebration when the only school on a remote Scottish island reopened after a ninemonth struggle to find a teacher.

But rather than bring the 24-strong community of Papa Stour together, the event merely served to highlight the divisions within it when the school unexpectedly found itself without its only pupil.

Six-year-old Holly Walker has been kept at home by parents Jane and John, apparently as a result of a row over another couple's plans for a drugs rehabilitation centre on the island, which lies off the west coast o f Shetland.
