The Jacket is a realistic fiction book. It takes place at a school and the book gets its name because there is confusion about whether a jacket belongs to Phil or Daniel. Phil says the jacket belongs to his little brother and Daniel says he is a liar because it is his jacket that his grandmother gave him for his birthday. They get into a pushing fight and both of them have to go to see the principal.
