ITV1 finally finds a home for this gentle, slow but well-acted drama that was originally scheduled to be broadcast over Christmas.
Based on the book by HG Wells, Adrian Hodges' story stars Lee Evans (right) as Alfred Polly, a 19th-century Kent shopkeeper frustrated by the limitations of life as he sees it and caught up in daydreams of a preferable existence.
