Bobbing in the waters of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, we spotted a clamorous cormorant colony perched high atop the rocky shores. Their squawks reached a crescendo when two bald eagles flew overhead, perhaps searching for eggs. Soon we were paddling propeller-style in our kayaks past wild coastline with broad estuaries that cut into Prince Edward Island's fabled red cliffs.
