Aug. 1 is the date traditionally reserved for writing about summer reading, but I suggest that you pick up a thriller instead of a business book. Myself, I am reading "Charlotte Gray," by Sebastian Faulks, a provocative novel of England and France during World War II. "A Dangerous Friend," about Vietnam, by Ward Just, is next on my list. It's not as though really good books about business and economics are hard to find. Edward Chancellor's "Devil Take The Hindmost: A History of Financial Speculation" is elegant and edifying.
