Substitutes qualified, motivated to fill need

The Nov. 25 article "More subs don't have teaching degrees" presented a skewed picture of substitute teaching in Wisconsin. Yes, many substitute teachers do not have degrees in teaching, but many are actively pursuing teaching degrees through bona fide educational programs. In fact, the majority of my classmates at Cardinal Stritch University are full-time teachers or part-time substitutes under the emergency provisions of the law. But more important, they bring a wealth of teaching skills to their classrooms.
