SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- ShiKai Products has tapped the power of borage oil for a line aimed at those suffering from chronically dry skin and from some forms of atopic dermatitis and eczema.
Borage oil is obtained from the seeds of the common blue star-flower. It is a difficult ingredient to handle, notes ShiKai vice president of sales Brian Babbini, which is why most skin care manufacturers do not use it. But clinical studies have shown that it can be valuable in treating chronic skin disorders.
