Highlights and Key Issues
* Growth in 2006Q3 slowed to 0.4% on the quarter and 2.4% on the year. After growth of about 2.9% this year, we expect more modest expansion of 2.1% in 2007, still well above potential and better than the 1.3% average achieved over the last 15 years.
* The weak patch in Q3 had a lot to do with what should prove to be one-off events, such as strong de-stocking and reduced investment in civil aircraft. Indeed, the detail behind the Q3 figures and latest indicators all paint a very healthy economic picture.
