When producer Joseph Papp refused to censor his production of "Sticks and Bones" for television broadcast in 1973, CBS aired the show but canceled the rest of Papp's contracts. Seeing David Rabe's caustic play at Actors' Theatre of Washington, where it opened last night, you can understand why: There's real hate here. The script chokes and burns on its own acid bile.
