Exactly 160 years ago - back when poets were the day's spin masters - Ralph Waldo Emerson showed how sound bite makes right.
On July 4, 1837, Emerson's "Concord Hymn" was sung at the dedication of the Battle Monument obelisk at the North Bridge in Concord. The first verse so fired the imagination that it was later engraved at the base of Daniel Chester French's Minute Man statue and into the American psyche.
