Civic Center Park is just across the street from the Wesley Senior Towers where Naomi Culp lives.
Traveling by walker, it's no small journey.
But love of country proved stronger than the pain of arthritis for Mrs. Culp. And just as she has for the past 17 Memorial Days, the 86- year-old woman took the long, slow journey across the street.
Nothing stopped the more than 50 other people who came to the park for the Joint Veterans Committee's annual Memorial Day Service Monday morning either. All came to remember those fallen and those who are still serving in combat.
