As area Catholics prayed for peace at an outdoor Mass in Des Plaines Sunday, the voice of America could be heard.

America Miramontes - named America because her mother was so touched by the astronauts who landed on the moon - was among hundreds who gathered for the special Spanish language Mass, held on the Maryville Academy campus.

Her name and country emblazoned across her red-white-and-blue T- shirt, the Des Plaines resident's thoughts are focused on her 22- year-old nephew, who is stationed in Germany awaiting his assignment.
