The village of South Barrington is now a step closer to acquiring some highly-desired land for preservation, and toward achieving the ultimate goal of creating bike and walking paths through several nature preserves.
"It is a top priority to acquire land," Village President Michael Neben said.
In order to have state funding that would finance the acquisition of various "environmentally sensitive" areas, including wetlands useful in controlling flooding, the village first needed to approve an open space plan.
