Skin covers your whole body from head to toe. It is about as thick as a stack of 8 sheets of notebook paper and weighs about 8 pounds. Your skin keeps your body parts together and protects you from germs and the sun's harmful rays. It even helps control your body's temperature. It can also tell you when there is a fly on your arm or a rock on your toe! Your skin is made up of 2 layers called the epidermis (ep i der' mis) and the dermis.
