WHEN YOU look out across Bangkok's chaotic skyline, it's easy to understand why the Sukhothai's architects chose to turn convention on its head. Rather than build a hotel with views of its surroundings, they came up with a scheme that looked in and over itself instead. Guests' rooms look over a central garden of immaculate lawns and lily ponds. And in communal spaces, light floods in from water-filled courtyards.
The interior is styled in polished teak, granite, glass and subdued hues, all contributing to the hotel's general air of serenity.
