In the past few weeks I've come across a few reminders that the fall of the Berlin Wall didn't bring with it a new spirit of brotherhood in Germany. A friend who was in Hamburg on business told me a frightening story about skinheads bombing a "Jewish" restaurant. Caught in the act, they were arrested and gave a statement to the press. "We hate Turks and want them to leave because they are ugly and stupid, but Jews are dangerous and must be eliminated."
