Just how ridiculous the federal government can be about declassifying information was evident last week when the Clinton administration finally wrested 44 million "secrets" from tightly clenched bureaucratic fists. Nearly half of the documents made public related to World War II, and some dated back to 1917. Kaiser Wilhelm would be flattered to know he was still considered a security threat in the 1990s.
