MERRIAM, Kan. (AP) -- Five years ago, Seaboard Farms didn't have a pig to its name.
Today, the Merriam company is the nation's eighth-largest hog grower with pork sales of $542 million in 1997, more than double sales a year earlier. Its first pork processing plant has reached capacity, and Seaboard plans to double its capacity by building a second plant near Great Bend.
