THE Department of Health has shown itself capable of the most alarming laxness in its choice of advisers.
Pennie Pennie played a leading role in its advisory group on abortion even though severe questions were already being asked about her role as an assistant director at Lambeth social services. Ms Pennie has since been sacked for gross negligence in the case of a teenager who reported that he had been sexually abused in a council children's home between 1989 and 1992.
An independent inquiry found her department was slow to look into the case, failed to take effective action and even failed...
