Macmillan Computer Publishing is to be acquired by Paramount Communications for its Simon & Schuster operation for $157.5 million cash, subject to regulatory clearance.
The sale comes five days after Macmillan announced its intent to transfer 55.6% of the shares outstanding in Berlitz International to Fukutake Publishing Co. of Japan for $265 million. Fukutake acquired a 20% interest in the Japanese subsidiary of Berlitz in 1990.
