Rusch, Mets blank Expos

Glendon Rusch threw seven shutout innings, and Todd Zeile homered and drove in three runs to lead the Mets to a 4-0 victory over the Montreal Expos on Tuesday night in New York.
Rusch (1-0), who has not allowed a run in 14 innings at home this season, allowed five hits, walked three and struck out nine -- one short of tying his career high.
Rusch threw 122 pitches and was never in any serious trouble as no the Expos didn't get a runner beyond second base against him. Turk Wendell finished the six-hitter.
