Imani dancers address coming-of-age issues in performance this weekend

Two cultures, continents and worlds are mixing Wednesday night at Mulberry Arts Studio - and it sounds like the soft slap of bare feet on a polished floor.

While others clap the beat, a barefoot male dancer in shorts and a T-shirt jumps, kicks and executes a flawless handspring in front of two chairs holding grinning teenage girls.

A dancer named Lark twists and spins in front of the chairs, her swift steps matched by a wide, beatific smile.
