Ellen Rienzi had eight of her 19 points in a big second quarter as top-seeded Rutherford went on to defeat ninth-seeded Pompton Lakes, 53-29, Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Group 1, North 1 girls basketball State tournament.
Danica Miller added 13 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks while Amanda Jones added 10 points and five assists for the Bulldogs (21- 4). Ashly Polo's 13 points paced Pompton Lakes (13-10).
