Richard B. Sewall, biographer of Emily Dickinson and beloved member of the faculty at Yale University for 42 years, died Wednesday in his Newton home. He was 95. Mr. Sewall's 1974 biography "The Life of Emily Dickinson" disproved several myths associated with the reclusive "Belle of Amherst," including that the poet was too fragile for the real world and a heartbroken victim of love. "Almost nothing about Emily Dickinson is simple and clear-cut," wrote Mr. Sewall.
