Previous research has demonstrated that equivalence relations are difficult to reverse. The present study sought to determine if this difficulty is related to particular features of the training tasks. Sixty-six Dutch adults and children were employed across 7 experiments. Following the formation of two 3-term equivalence classes (A1-B1-C1, A2-B2-C2), children in Experiment 1 received reversal training followed by equivalence probes.
